Off Redshift and Power BI, onto Databricks and Tableau

Quilt Software runs multiple point-of-sale brands. We migrated their reporting stack in 2023 and have run their data engineering since.

Migration, then ongoing data engineering

Quilt approached us when their Redshift and PowerBI infrastructure was too much for the engineering team to continue maintaining on their own. Like many growing companies without a dedicated data org, engineers had been given the task of building and maintaining the data infrastructure.

Within a few months, we transitioned their team onto a more reliable and testable data infrastructure. This reduced the team's time spent working on data-related projects from 95–100% to less than 50%, with the remaining time spent focused on higher-leverage strategic decisions.

We've maintained the infrastructure in collaboration with the Quilt team for three years. Now the data platform runs ahead of what the business asks of it.

The pod is two data and analytics engineers with a fractional solutions architect and project manager. The same team, week to week, since 2023.

Still fighting your infrastructure?

A migration is a scoped, fixed-fee piece of work, and it is worth doing before the reporting debt compounds any further.
